Who can publish with Death2Life Publishing?

We welcome Christian authors whose lives have been touched by incarceration: those who are currently incarcerated, those who are formerly incarcerated, and the family members who have walked that road alongside a loved one. First-time and experienced authors are equally welcome. If you have a Christ-centered message, story, or teaching that points toward hope, we'd be glad to hear from you.

Do you publish authors who are currently incarcerated?

Yes. It's one of our deepest callings. We regularly work with authors writing from inside correctional facilities, and we handle the parts of publishing that are hard to coordinate from inside. A family member or friend is welcome to help.

What kinds of books do you publish?

We're open to a wide range of Christ-centered work — devotionals, Bible studies, theology, discipleship, testimonies, poetry, encouragement, and more. What unites everything we publish is a heart toward hope, healing, and pointing readers to Christ.

Is there anything you won't publish?

Yes. Because of who we are, we don't publish content that promotes crime, violence, substance abuse, or other harmful or destructive lifestyles, or material that is explicit, hateful, or contrary to our faith. Honest stories about a hard past are welcome — including struggles, mistakes, and time spent incarcerated — as long as they point toward redemption and hope rather than glorifying the harm. If you're unsure whether your book is a fit, just ask.

Do I need a completed manuscript?

Yes. You'll need to have already written your manuscript before we begin. It doesn't need to be perfect — editing and polishing are part of what we do — but the content must be yours. We're a publisher, not a ghostwriter: we don't take an idea and turn it into a book for you. Once you have a completed draft, we'll help carry it the rest of the way.

Can I submit a handwritten manuscript?

Yes. As long as your handwriting is legible, you can mail us your handwritten pages and we'll convert them into a digital file for editing. You don't need a computer or typewriter to publish with us.

What if my book quotes other sources?

If your book quotes, references, or draws from anyone else's work, please include a list of those sources with your manuscript. We check every manuscript for plagiarism and copyright issues before publishing, which protects both you and your book.

What does Death2Life Publishing do for my book?

We handle the work that turns a manuscript into a real, professional book — editing guidance, interior formatting, cover design, ISBN registration, and distribution to Amazon, online retailers, and (where suited) bookstores and libraries. Your job is the writing; we carry the rest.

Does it cost me anything to publish with you?

No. We are not a "pay-to-publish" company, and we never charge authors to publish or print their books. We cover the work and the upfront costs.

How are royalties handled?

Authors receive 35% of the net proceeds from book sales, and Death2Life Publishing retains 65%, which funds all the editing, design, distribution, administration, and payment processing we provide at no upfront cost to you. We pay your share within 10 days of receiving funds from the retailer and mail you a sales statement. Full terms are explained in plain language before anything is signed.

How much money should I expect to make?

We want to be honest with you. Most books sell modestly, and the income is usually steady and small rather than life-changing — that's true across publishing, not just here. What we can promise is a book made well, treated with respect, and placed within reach of readers — a real, lasting book your family can hold, and that may help someone else who needs to hear your story.

Do I keep the rights to my book?

Yes. Authors keep ownership of their work. We publish your book under a written agreement we walk through with you in full — nothing is hidden, and you're encouraged to ask questions before you sign.

Do I get an ISBN?

Yes. We register an ISBN for your book as part of production, at no cost to you.

Do I get a copy of my published book?

Yes. Once your book is published, you'll receive a final copy of it.

How long does publishing take?

It varies by book and how ready the manuscript is. We'll give you a realistic picture once we've seen your work.

How can my family and friends help?

The single best thing they can do is share your book's link from the Death2Life Publishing page with people they know. Word of mouth helps more than anything, and every share helps your book reach new readers — and helps your family.

How do I get started?

Email us at info@death2lifepublishing.com and tell us a little about yourself and your book. You can submit online yourself, have a family member or friend submit for you, or mail your manuscript (typed or legibly handwritten) to our PO box. If you're writing from a facility, a loved one is welcome to reach out on your behalf.
